I remember getting given an INIKA makeup brush a few years back, and to date, it’s still one of my favourite makeup brushes I own. When INIKA got in touch with me a month or so ago and offered to send me some of their products, I jumped at the chance. I have heard so many wonderful things about this makeup brand, and the fact that all of their products are made from 100% natural and certified organic ingredients, makes them truely a stand out.
INIKA kindly let me pick out some products from their new makeup collection in order to create todays Makeup of the Day Look. I’m so happy with how this look turned out, and the products all applied absolutely beautifully. I will be doing some individual reviews on some of the products over the next couple of months, but overall I am extremely impressed with this natural makeup brand.
First I started with my base, and I applied the Baked Mineral Foundation in the shade Strength all over my face with a kabuki brush. This foundation has a beautiful finish and it covers redness and blemishes easily. I love that I can add more in areas that need it (such as around my nose and on my chin) and it doesn’t look patchy or cakey. I skipped concealer this time as the foundation had already covered any areas of concern.
I am a bronzer fan and this Baked Mineral Bronzer is to die for! I applied this with a fluffy bronzer brush on my nose, jawline, cheeks, and a little on my forehead – anywhere the sun hits the skin naturally. This bronzer comes in only one shade, but this colour would work well for those who are on the paler side (like me) or those with darker skin. It sits on the skin beautifully! Next I applied a little of the Lip & Cheek Cream which is a product that works as both a blush and a lip colour. You only need a tiny amount of this for the cheeks as it’s very pigmented, and I like to apply mine with my fingers as I find this is how it blends the best. Next up I applied the Baked Mineral Illuminator to my cheekbones, Cupids Bow, and a little down the middle of the nose. This illuminator looks a little glittery in the pan, but once it’s on the skin it offers a subtle pretty glow. It’s one of those products where it’s not obvious you are wearing a highlight, but the skin just looks lit from within.
Next up is eyes and I tacked the brows first using the Organic Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brunette. I love a good brow pencil and this one has a great little brush on the lid which is good for combing the product through to get an even application.
For eyes I wanted to go for a subtle smokey eye and I used the Pressed Mineral Eye Shadow Duo in the shade Platinum Steel. I applied the silvery grey shade all over the eyelid and blended it up into the crease. I also applied a little on the lower waterline. I then took the dark grey and buffed it into the crease ensuring both colours were well blended together. The darker colour helps to create a shadow and makes the eyes pop more. I also applied a little on the outer corners (blending well) and on the lower waterline. Taking the Eyeliner Pencil in the shade Black Caviar, I lined the upper and lower lash line and smudged this slightly to give more of a smokey feel. This pencil is beautiful for creating the ultimate smokey eye! I topped this off with lashings of the Vegan Mascara.
To finish everything off I applied the Lip & Cheek Duo on my lips – I just patted it on to my lips for a soft pink, natural-looking flush.
And that’s it – a really easy and subtle smokey eye with bronzed skin. This makeup look has quickly become on of my favourites! Have you tried INIKA before? I’d love to hear which product you like the most – leave me a comment below!
