In my opinion no dress is as versatile as a good maxi dress. No matter the season, a maxi can be styled to keep you warm or cool. They can be dressed up or down, and come in a huge range of styles. Believe it or not, I never used to wear maxis until a few years ago. I was always under the impression that as a shorter girl, I couldn’t rock a maxi….. how wrong I was!! There was an old belief that maxi dress could make petite girls look smaller, but I’ve actually found the opposite to be true – they can make you look SO much taller!!
I’ve already done a blog post all around maxi dresses for petite girls, with all my tips and tricks for finding the perfect maxi for a smaller frame, so today I thought I’d share my three favourite maxi dress finds that are all a perfect length for a shorter or petite gal. For reference, I am 163cm or 5″3′ and wear a size XS or 8 in all these dresses. The Montania Maxi is the newest addition to my wardrobe and I’m IN LOVE! This piece is the perfect trans-seasonal dress, and could easily be layered with tights, boots, a merino and leather jacket for winter. I bet you can’t tell I layered a v-neck merino under it in these photos! I’m a sucker for a good black dress and this one is just so easy to wear. The length is also perfect, offering a full length maxi without dragging on the ground.
The Tessa Bree Dress is such a fun bright piece for Summer! I lovingly nicknamed this one the ‘peacock dress’ and wrote a whole post about it here. With a button down bodice, three quarter sleeves, and a tiered skirt, it really is a striking piece. This one is a Jaase x Salty Crush exclusive, so shop it here. For petite girls, midi dresses are also a great option! Many midi dresses are long enough to be deemed maxi dresses – I take advantage of this so often!! My favourite midi option right now is the Eve Midi Dress. While this one comes in a few different prints, I love the Gemstone pattern below (see my full post about this dreamy boho dress here). This print is really a stand out, and as you can see it hits just a little above the ankle on me. If you were shorter than me, then absolutely look into midi dresses as a longer length option (they are also often cheaper too! 🙊)
