I am 100% okay with admitting that up until I tried the Soleil and Soul Brush Cleaner about a year ago, that I was cleaning my makeup brushes with shampoo. Yip, regular old shampoo (and sometimes baby shampoo, because I did TRY to be caring towards my brushes. 😅) However my brush cleaning game has completely ramped up and I felt it was about time to share this Soleil and Soul review to the world, as this product is THAT good…. and you probably needed it in your skincare arsenal, like yesterday!
I feel like brush cleaning is one of those things that we often forget about (or put off so long because we hate doing it). Since I’ve discovered this simple cleaner I have actually gotten into such a good routine with cleaning my makeup brushes once a week (religiously!). It doesn’t take me more than a few minutes to throughly clean my brushes each week, so it’s not a huge chore I have to dread doing!
So why should you clean your brushes regularly? Having clean brushes cuts down on the amount of bacteria and dirt that is rubbed back on to your skin. These things pick up all things yucky and then smear it back on your skin, so if your brushes aren’t clean, it’s likely your skin isn’t either. If you suffer from acne, eczema, or skin irritations, cleaning your brushes is extra important to stop from these irritants and oils from further annoying your skin.
So when it comes to Soleil and Soul, there are two options – the Deep Cleanse Brush Shampoo and the Professional Quick Dry Brush Mist. I am 100% obsessed with the Quick Dry Mist. It’s so simple to use – simply spray it on to your brushes and rub your brushes gently on to something like a paper towel. Repeat until all the makeup and reside is removed. Honestly this is so quick and simple to do and this product is so effective at getting your brushes clean. There’s no water needed, so it’s also perfect for on-the-go! The brushes dry super quickly, even when doused in this product!
One thing I really love about Soleil and Soul is that it was created by a Christchurch based makeup artist who really understands the importance of using quality products on your skin and the importance of brush hygiene. The products also don’t contain truckloads of hard to pronounce ingredients – just the ones needed to actually do the job. This means it is a lot more skin-friendly and has a lower chemical content, than many other brush cleaning brands out there.
Another perk? You can buy the spray bottle and then purchase refills which are cheaper and more sustainable for the environment (even though bottles are made from plant based plastics – another win!)
I’ve already repurchased this one, and will be doing so again! Next time I plan to buy the Deep Cleanse Shampoo too, for an even deeper clean!
