I have been so looking forward to writing this post and sharing this room with you all, as it’s been a long time in the making! Jack’s nursery is the cutest little room, and is the third and smallest bedroom of our house. If you want to take a peek at what we’ve done so far in terms of renovations, click here.
I wanted to keep with the grey and white theme that we have running through our house, so we opted to paint the walls with Resene Quarter Rice Cake, which is the same colour that we’ve used in all the other rooms. I wanted to create a nursery space that had the white and grey elements, but at the same time was bright and fun for a baby. We chose yellow as our accentuating colour, as it’s such a bright happy colour and it pairs beautifully with the grey!
I really like how this room has been styled, as it works perfectly for a nursery, yet take out all of the decor and you are left with a room which can be used as an office or extra room with very little re-decorating required!
The curtains are actually from The Warehouse and were only $89! They look and feel so much more expensive, so we are thrilled with them. My mum also made a blackout lining to go on the back so the room is darker during the day for his daytime naps.
As a kid I always loved Winnie the Pooh and it fit in perfectly with the yellow colour scheme, so we opted for a Winnie the Pooh themed nursery. I got some gorgeous Pooh decals off Ebay, and they were a complete bargain at only a few dollars each! I put them up nice and high so Jack can’t try and peel them off the walls as he gets older!
My Mum made the beautiful Winnie the Pooh quilt, and the colours of this all tie in with the overall colour scheme. While Jack is still a little too young to use the quilt, I can’t wait to put it over him when he’s a little older! Mum also made the gorgeous matching cushion which sits over with the bear in the corner.
I’m not 100% sure what to do in this corner yet. Originally we had a chair in this corner for night time feeds, but by the time Jack moved into his nursery, he wasn’t feeding during the night. I had hoped to get him a teepee to play in as he gets a bit older, but we have a panel heater over on that wall and all of the teepees I’ve found won’t fit in this space. For the meantime, I just have his sheepskin, colourful blanket (also made my my very creative Mum), and his big bear.
The cot we got from Mocka NZ, and it is the Aspiring cot. It comes in three colours, but I liked the all-white as it matches with the rest of the room. I’m so glad I ordered this well in advance as this cot is so popular that they often sell out! I love the classic yet modern style, and it also has a side piece that allows it to convert into a toddler bed for when Jack is older. We also got the Vale mattress that fits the cot perfectly, and the teething rails for when he’s a little older.
I decided to do a bit of a DIY on the set of drawers that we had. They were actually the boyfriends from when he was a child, and we brought them back to life by painting them up. We chose “Waikawa” by Dulux for the bright yellow bottom drawer, and diluted it with white paint to get the ombre effect. I’m so thrilled with how they turned out, and they are the perfect space for storing all of Jack’s clothes.
I also found these gorgeous wooden letters at Kmart for only $2 each, so I painted them up in the same bright yellow paint and I love how they look against the white.

I really love how Jack’s room turned out and he seems to absolutely love it too. When we go in to get him in the mornings, he’s often lying there in his cot, talking to the Winnie the Pooh decals on the wall above him. It is the cutest thing! I knew I wanted a bright nursery rather than the current trend of natural or monochrome nurserys. I wanted something fun and fresh, that’s easy to change up if we want to – and I think we nailed it!
