Femme Luxe Review

Femme Luxe Review

A few weeks back I was contacted by Femme Luxe, a British online clothing retailer. They offered to let me pick four pieces from their website in exchange for a honest review. They have a huge selection of clothing online and cater to women. I’ll be honest, at first I wasn’t sure if there was anything that would suit me. A large majority of their clothing is more glammed up sort of stuff that you might see Kim Kardashian wearing. Which, let’s be honest, isn’t really suitable for a mum who lives in the country. I can just imagine the looks I’d get if I walked into the local pub wearing a leather look corset top and a mini skirt! 😅

But after having a look around the site, I saw that there were more casual clothes available too. They have quite the selection of things like tees, loungewear, leggings and casual tops – so I agreed to do a review and placed my order for 4 pieces that I picked out.

The shipping was fairly quick from Europe to NZ, with the total time being 11 days. The items all came packaged well and all of the items and the correct sizes were there. I’ve listed each size I purchased so bear in mind I am usually a size 6 (US 2) and 163cm (5’3″ tall). Let’s take a look at what I chose….

FEMME LUXE REVIEW- YVES SAINT LOVE TEE

The first item I was drawn to was this black Yves Saint Love tee. I love slogan tees and this one is a really nice fit. It’s a black  tee, made from a polyester blend which makes it nice and lightweight. It sits on the body nicely, and the white slogan really stands out agains the black. I can see myself wearing this a lot over the summer, and it’s my favourite item that I got.

Tee Fit Tips: I chose this in a size S/M which is supposed to be a 8/10. I’d say this is definitely more on the small side and is more of a size 8 for a regular fit. If you wanted an oversized look, you would definitely want to size up.

FEMME LUXE – HIGH WAISTED FAUX LEATHER LOOK LEGGINGS

The next item I chose were these High Waisted Faux Leather Look Leggings. These type of things are super easy to throw on and look really cute under longline tops, sweaters or tunic tops. I wouldn’t say these really look that faux leather. They have more of a shiny look to them, but when on, they do look nice. They are quite a thin fabric, so they sit quite close to the skin, meaning you can get a bit of VPL, so it’s a good idea to wear seamless undies under these ones! I definitely wouldn’t say these are fantastic quality, but for the price they probably aren’t too bad.

Leggings Fit Tips: I tossed up between sizes for these and ended up going with the 8. I’m pleased I did as these are very tight and I’d say definitely size up!

FEMME LUXE  – CAMO BODYSUIT

The next item is a bodysuit and this is my first ever bodysuit, so I don’t really have a lot to compare it to. This camo print is really fun and is a bit different to what I’d normally wear. The top has long sleeves and a flattering scoop neck. It’s also a really nice fit through the body and domes up easily. Obviously a bodysuit is meant to fit a bit on the more fitted side, and this one is perfect on me. The material is slightly on the thin side, but it’s not see through (although I would wear a nude bra underneath). I did find the domes were a bit uncomfortable when on and tend to rub on your legs which isn’t particularly pleasant, but I don’t know if this is just something that happens with all body suits or not 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bodysuit Fit Tips: I got this is a 6/8 and it’s a perfect fit on me. These seem to be fairly TTS for a tighter fit.

FEMME LUXE REVIEW- 2 PIECE LOUNGEWEAR SET

The final item I got was the 2 piece loungewear set. This consists of a pair of black lounge pants and a long sleeved sweater. This was the item I was the most excited for, and unfortunately the one I’m the most disappointed in. The fabric is a very very light knit and the items are actually see through! You can totally see undies through the pants from behind, and a cami is a must under the sweater. The fabric feels very cheap, and in all honesty, I don’t think I’ll be wearing this even around home. The neckline of the sweater is already stretched after being tried on twice. Really disappointed in this one, and definitely wouldn’t recommend!

Loungewear Set Fit Tips: I got this in a S/M (8/10) and it’s very small fitting. I’d say more of a 6/8.

FEMME LUXE REVIEW – OVERALL

Overall, my order with Femme Luxe was a bit hit and miss. The loungewear set was an absolute disaster and the other three pieces are okay. I wouldn’t rave about the quality, the material is definitely on the thinner/cheaper side and I feel like sizing might be quite hard to judge if you were wanting to purchase a fitted piece like a corset or tube dress. The clothes are definitely budget, but I feel like the price reflects this too – none of these items are super expensive full price and they often have sales.

Would I purchase from here in the future? In all honesty, probably not. I think if I was looking for low cost items, I’d probably opt for somewhere like Kmart, as I did opt for more basic pieces and I think the Kmart tees etc are better quality. I obviously can’t judge Femme Luxe on their more dressier items and I have seen people rave about their dresses etc, so perhaps that stuff is slightly better.
