By now, you guys probably know that I love my collagen and it’s one of the few supplements that I actually take each day. Over the past couple of years, I’ve tried a couple of different collagen powders including the Nutra Organics Collagen Beauty Powder, and the QT For You Collagen (click the links to read my reviews!).
I had seen Dose & Co advertised on Instagram, and I’ll be honest I 100% got sucked in by their gorgeous advertising. Before I knew it, I had a Vanilla Collagen Creamer winging it’s way to me. It’s no secret I am a huge coffee fan, and one of the main reasons I wanted to try this product is that it’s a coffee creamer – you literally add it to your coffee and get a hint of flavour as well as your daily dose of collagen. As someone who has at least two coffees a day, this is a super easy (and tasty!) way to get my daily hit of collagen! I’ve now just about finished my second tub, so I thought it was time for a review. I’ve kept this review in the same format as my other collagen reviews, so you can easily compare brands if you wish to do so!
Each serving size of the Dose & Co Collagen Creamer is 20 grams and this means there are 17 servings in a jar. I actually just take a 5 gram serving (heaped teaspoon) in order to make a jar last a wee bit longer, as a 20 gram serve seems a little bit excessive (and expensive!). My results from this product are based off this smaller serving size. This also means that instead of $3.11 per serve (ouch!), it is costing me $0.70 per serve or approximately $21 per month.
WHAT IS COLLAGEN?
Our skin is made up of over 75% collagen, but as we hit our mid-20’s, this collagen begins to deteriorate and this is when we begin to show signs of ageing. Many outside factors also add to the ageing process such as lifestyle and environmental factors, so while taking a collagen supplement does help, it’s also important to try and limit these other external factors too.
The Dose & Co Collagen Creamer uses type 1 and type 3 which is bovine collagen, so this product is not suitable for vegetarians. Since this is a coffee creamer product, these do contain milk and Dose & Co do have two options available: regular which contains milk powder and dairy-free which contains coconut milk powder. I use the Dairy-free option, as I like to keep my dairy intake to a minimum, and the coconut milk contains beneficial good fats which is also a healthy bonus. Obviously each to their own, but this review is based off my experience with the dairy-free version.
Here are just a few benefits of collagen:
- Helps to keep skin smooth and more youthful
- Keeps the outer layer of the skin more supple and reduces the signs of ageing (wrinkles)
- Helps to reduce cellulite
- Improves skin moisture and reduces dryness
- Improves gut health

BUT SHOULD I MIX COLLAGEN INTO HOT COFFEE?
So here’s where it gets a bit tricky and there are a number of studies that say mixing collagen powder into hot liquids actually reduces the benefits of the collagen. When the collagen is extracted from animals, it’s done using a heat process. This partially breaks down the collagen and therefore makes it more readily absorbed by the body. The issue is, is that if you are then putting this broken down collagen into heat yet again, many studies have proven that this actually breaks down the collagen to a point where it no longer has the same benefits as if it was taken in cooler liquids.
There seems to be a number of varying view points on this, and after doing some research it seems that collagen should be okay if it is added to not too hot liquid. Eg, if you are making a coffee, I would always add this into coffee with milk rather than just straight into the boiling water. For me, this really has no effect as I always do have quite a milky, not to hot, coffee…. but if you like your coffee hot or with no milk, then this might not be the most beneficial source of collagen for you.
MIXING & TASTE
The Dose & Co Coffee Creamers are designed to be added in to your morning coffee, so they come in four different flavour options: Vanilla, Chocolate, Caramel and Coconut. I have only tried the vanilla flavour and I have to say that it is absolutely delicious. There’s a tiny hint of vanilla and coconut and it isn’t too overpowering or overly sweet. It adds a really nice creamy texture to my coffee, however I do still choose to have milk in my coffee too.
In terms of mixing, this product dissolves fairly well into a hot drink and doesn’t remain clumpy when stirred well. I just make my my coffee as normal and stir it in. It does leave a slight froth on the top of my coffee too which is nice. I haven’t tried this product in any other way apart from coffee yet, however Dose & Co do say you can use it in other drinks, as well as baking and smoothies.
HAIR & NAILS – ANY CHANGE?
When I first started taking Dose & Co I noticed a HUGE change in my hair growth. All of these baby hairs popped up out of nowhere and my hair grew super quickly in a short time. I’m not sure whether this was a coincidence or not, as my hair growth has slowed a wee bit now and I am still taking the supplement, so potentially it might just have been a seasonal thing. I do find that my hair still grows fairly quickly, and it seems to be really healthy (my hairdresser always comments on how healthy my hair is even though it’s highlighted!) so that’s a bonus! In terms of collagen products, this one is the most effective that I’ve tried to help with hair growth!
In terms of nails, I’ve always had quite brittle nails. They are definitely stronger when I take a collagen supplement versus when I don’t, so if you are like me and have weak nails, I definitely recommend taking one! I’ve found this collagen powder to more or less the same as the others I have tried in terms of nails.
SKIN – ANY CHANGE?
As I’ve mentioned previously, I can’t really say that I’ve noticed a huge change in my skin after taking collagen supplements. I’m super lucky to have really good skin, which I put down to a balanced diet, lots of water, and great skincare products. I do however hope that by taking collagen, that I might help to prevent any wrinkles that might pop up and keep my skin in it’s tip top condition, however I can’t really say whether this product has made any difference in this area or not.
GUT HEALTH – ANY CHANGE?
I’ll be honest, I haven’t noticed a huge change in my gut health since starting the Dose & Co Collagen Creamer. I do feel that this product is aimed more at the overall improvement of hair, skin and nails then the improvement of gut health. If you are looking for a collagen powder that will increase your gut health, then I wouldn’t say that this is the best option.

DOSE & CO COLLAGEN CREAMER FINAL VERDICT
The Dose & Co Collagen Creamer is a super fun and tasty way to take collagen. Is it the healthiest and highest in collagen? No, if you are looking for something with a high collagen amount (89.5g per 100g), no sugar and no fat you would want to try the Nutra Organics Collagen Beauty Powder which is still my favourite and best value for money collagen product that I’ve come across.
If you are wanting something yummy that is fun and easy to take, then the Dose & Co Collagen Creamer is definitely for you. It’s a great way to up your daily collagen intake without making any massive changes to your diet, and the effects are definitely noticeable. However, at a full serve, it is an extremely pricy way to take collagen, but if you quarter the serve it takes it down to around the same price as the Nutra Organics product, and tastes much less sweet. However keep in mind, when cutting down the serving size the collagen amount is also dramatically reduced too – so for the best results the Nutra Organics collagen is still the best way to go!
Overall I do like this creamer due to it’s taste and how easy it is for me to take my collagen daily. I always look forward to my Dose & Co coffee in the mornings, and adding this to my coffee gives a nice flavour which means I don’t add sugar. I’m currently trying to grow my hair a bit longer, so am taking this every morning. Here’s where I buy mine!
