One of my favourite things about winter has to be the cosy factor. I love getting all rugged up in cosy clothes – boots, jackets, hats – all part of the fun of winter! When I was younger I used to hate wearing hats, and now I couldn’t be without them. A good beanie in winter is one way to ensure you are warm (and still look cute!). While I used to buy a lot of beanies made from cheaper materials, I’m now loving wool, merino and cashmere – the warmth factor is second to none!
At the moment my favourite beanie is this super cute pom pom beanie from Emily Page. This is a Central Otago based business that stock beautiful cashmere beanies with fun pom poms on the top. There are the option of one Pom Pom or two, and they are detachable so you can choose to take them off or replace them with other coloured poms.
I have the White Double Pom Pom beanie and it’s such a good colour as it goes with EVERYTHING! The cashmere wool makes it incredibly warm and the thick adjustable band means no matter your head size, you’ll get a great fit. This hat is so snug and I love that it comes down nicely over my ears to keep them warm.
While I absolutely love the Double Poms, if you prefer a classic look, then there is a huge colour range in the Single Pom Pom hats too. There’s also two different styles with the classic hat and the slouch style. You can also get matching options for your minis, and I’m so tempted to get Jack and I matching ones!
I’ve been testing this beanie in some of the most extreme weather over the past few weeks – down at Gemstone Beach which is one of the windiest parts of the country, and Queenstown for the extreme cold. I can happily say it kept me perfectly warm in both places – way warmer than any other hat I own. Winner!
