What’s In My Bag? Toddler Edition

Whats In My Toddler Bag?

Heading out with a toddler can seem like such a daunting task sometimes. It’s amazing how much STUFF you need to take for just a short trip out and about!  When Jack was a baby, it felt like I had to take a lot more with me (bottles etc), but in all honesty, I probably still take the same amount out now – the things have just changed (a million soft toys and cars 😅). Today I thought I’d share what’s in my bag when I head out with Jack.

First up, the bag I’m currently using is the Status Anxiety Fire on the Vine bag. I’ve been using this one since about August 2019 (a couple of months after Jack turned one). I’ve never used a real nappy bag as my bag, instead just opting for handbags (you can read what was in my baby bag here) as I found the baby bag I originally bought to be so heavy and bulky, and handbags are just way cuter! Handbags were just easier for me, and when I purchased my Status Anxiety tote, I knew it would do me well past the baby/toddler bag stage too.

This is a large tote which has plenty of room to fit extra clothes or toys, and it’s a soft, floppy leather meaning that it fitted under the pram with ease. We ditched the pram about six months ago, but the fact that it fits in the pram tray is a huge bonus! I also love the fact that this bag is really light, even when packed with stuff!

Below is what is usually in my bag when Jack and I head out. Usually we will go into town for a while or to the park, and the stuff listed below is generally what I take with me each time. Sometimes if we are only out for a short amount of time I won’t worry with all of these things. As well as all the stuff below, I can also fit my iPad Pro in my bag which I sometimes take with me too.

WHAT’S IN MY BAG – TODDLER EDITION

  • Jack’s drink bottle -we love the Camelbak Eddy Kids
  • Jacks lunchbox – Haaka 2-segment lunchbox
  • Dummy & Blanket – We use this Haaka Dummy and have it on a Gobstopper blankie to keep it clean. I don’t take this out all the time with me now though as Jack is hardly using it.
  • Sweater or hoodie for Jack (if needed)
  • Sharky – This is Jack’s favourite friend who goes everywhere with us. Sometimes we also have all of Sharkys friends that tag along too….
  • Nappy Pouch – This one was custom made for me by Kate of Arcadia, and includes one nappy and one pull-up, a disposable nappy bag and a disposable nappy mat as well as a bib and a cloth wipe.
  • Reusable Bag – literally a must have!!
  • Wipes – again MUST HAVE! 😂
  • Sunscreen (I take this out in winter, but a must-have in summer as we never know where we will end up!)
  • Hand Sanitizer – *cough* COVID *cough*
  • Wallet – I use one from Status Anxiety – the slightly older style of this one.
  • iPhone 11 (I have this one)
  • Earphones
  • Hayfever tablets/Panadol/Asthma Inhaler/Sanitary items

Before anyone recommends that I get a reusable nappy mat, this is the same disposable mat I’ve had in my bag for nearly 18 months and it’s never been used! We are never usually out for long enough amounts of time where Jack needs a nappy change, so the nappy stuff I take with me is “just incase”. If I was regularly changing his nappy out and about, I would definitely invest in a reusable mat!

If you’ve got a toddler, I’d love to know if what you take in your bag is similar to us!
