Lust Minerals Review + Must Have Products!

Lust Minerals Review

Last year I discovered the Australian made makeup brand Lust Minerals, and my makeup bag got a whole lot heavier! Lust Minerals is a mineral based makeup company, that create all their products with no nasties and effective and long lasting formulas. They now have a complete makeup and skincare line, and I can honestly say hand on heart, I would consider them to be my favourite makeup brand. So I figured it was time for a Lust Minerals review where I can share some of my favourite Lust products!

So what makes Lust Minerals different from other natural makeup brands? Lust uses natural ingredients in their makeup designed to nourish the skin. Their formulas are light and allow the skin to breathe, rather than clogging up the pores. They are also extremely long lasting, even in the hot Australian climate! Even though I’m a Kiwi right at the bottom of the South Island, we had a few days in Summer where I was able to put this sweat-proof makeup to the test – and can confirm it doesn’t budge!

I’ve been using Lust Minerals makeup for about a year now, so I thought I’d share some of my favourite products, and ones I use on a daily basis in my makeup routine! Check out the mini reviews of each Lust product below! If you are keen to try out Lust Minerals for yourself, then click here to get $15 off your first order!

LUST MINERALS REVIEW + MUST HAVE PRODUCTS!

PRO FINISH FOUNDATION

The Pro Finish Foundation is my go-to foundation. It’s a medium to full coverage, and it’s seriously amazing at evening out the skintone and counteracting redness. While it’s a full coverage foundation, it blends into the skin beautifully and doesn’t look heavy or give the appearance of sitting on the skin like some other foundations do. In fact, I generally forget I’m actually wearing foundation with this one as it’s just so light!

I wear the shade #02 (light, yellow undertone) when I’m not tanned and #06 (medium, neutral undertone) when I have a tan, and both of these are spot on. I also have shade #03 which I wear when I have a natural tan, or when my tan is fading, however you could totally just get away just your lightest and darkest colours and just mix them together to get the right shade! This foundation also doesn’t oxidise which is a big win and are packed full of nourishing ingredients for you skin. Read my full review of this one here.

Lust Minerals Pro Finish Foundation

MATTIFYING PRIMER

I never used to use a primer, which is so naughty I know, as the results really do speak for themselves! Quite possibly the best primer I’ve ever used, this sets my skin up for foundation, and keeps it looking and lasting it’s best. I was never really sure if primer did anything, but I can definitely confirm my skin looks smoother and more even when I’m using this. Combined with the HD Setting Powder, this duo makes makeup last all day long – even in the hottest of weather.

HD SETTING POWDER

The HD Setting Powder is quite possibly the best setting powder I’ve ever used and that’s a pretty big statement. Usually I would stay away from loose powders, and opt for a pressed powder, and I think it’s for this reason it took me so long to give this product a try! However I now know loose setting powders, and this one in particular, are amazing. This one sets my whole face without looking cakey or like I’m wearing powder – it literally goes invisible! You also only need a small amount for setting, so a jar of this will last a long time. I’m just over halfway through mine after about 6-ish months!

This powder combined with the Pro Finish is literally sweat proof, and stands up to even the hardest gym workouts! If you take a lot of photos, you’ll also love this one as it’s designed to prevent flash back or the dreaded ghostly face! This HD Setting Powder really prolongs the length of your foundation and I highly recommend!

POWDER ILLUMINATOR

This is my newest Lust product, and it’s safe to say, I’m loving it! The Powder Illuminator comes in two shades,

  • #01 with a white /yellow shimmer
  • #05 with a rose gold shimmer

I have the rose gold shade and it is seriously beautiful. I love a good highlight and the brighter the better, so this one definitely doesn’t disappoint. I wasn’t too sure if the rose gold would be too dark on my pale skin, but I really think it’s a shade that would suit everyone, no matter their skin tone.

It’s a loose formula, so you simply swirl the brush in the powder, tap off the excess and apply to your cheekbones and anywhere else you want to highlight. Again, a little goes a long way, so this pottle will last forever!

PRESSED BRONZER

The Lust Minerals Bronzer comes in three shades:

  • #02 – a slight shimmer, for medium-darker skin tones
  • #03 – a slight shimmer, for light-medium skin tones
  • #04 – a matte universal shade (perfect for contouring!)

I have this bronzer in the shade #03 and it’s my daily bronzer. It has just the smallest amount of sparkle which looks beautiful on the skin without looking overly shiny or glittery. These are super pigmented bronzers, so you only need the smallest amount for a bronzy glow. I have a feeling mine will last forever at this rate as I use it every day and haven’t even made a dent in it! The colour is buildable too, so you can use as much or as little as you like and don’t need to fear looking overdone – even if you have pale skin like me!

MINERAL PRESSED POWDER FOUNDATION

I love a pressed powder foundation for those days where I can’t be bothered doing my whole makeup routine. I just want to even out some redness, whack on a bit of mascara, and be out the door! This Pressed Foundation is perfect for that. It’s buildable, so offers light to medium/full coverage, and it can be also used over the Pro Finish Foundation for extra full coverage.

This Pressed Foundation is also SPF15 so it’s a great one to wear in the summer for that extra bit of sun and UV protection. It feels very light on the skin and does a great job at evening out skin tone and correcting redness. I use this Powder Foundation in the shade #02, same as my Pro Finish Shade.

LUST MINERALS LASH & BROW SERUM

This product is fairly new to Lust, and I’ve only been using mine for a matter of weeks, but so far so good! This is a really easy lash serum to apply each night after your skincare routine and before bed. It’s basically like a mascara with a little wand that you just brush on to your lashes, from the base right to the tips. I also brush a bit through my brows. Over the past few weeks my lashes are definitely looking fuller and thicker. I haven’t noticed a huge amount of length yet, but I plan to do a full review of this one at some stage hopefully with a few before and afters!
