One thing I’ve been doing for nearly a year now is regular affirmations. I personally do them daily (usually when I’m in the bathroom or in the shower and have a few quiet moments to myself #mumlife) and I find when I do them regularly, overall I feel so much more positive, uplifted and confident in myself and my abilities. There is so much amazing research around affirmations and the positive effect that they have on our energy.

Since it worked so well for me, I also decided to start doing some affirmations with Jack, and we have been doing these regularly since around Christmas. We keep it super simple and rotate through around 4-5 different affirmations. Sometimes he is in the mood and that’s awesome, he loves it, other times he isn’t and on those days I don’t push it – we just come back to it later on.

When we first started affirmations, I did them all in the third person for him “Jack is a clever boy”, instead of “I am a clever boy” as he was still confused around pronouns and thought I was talking about me instead of him! Now as he’s three he understands the pronouns so we have moved to affirmations in the first person.

Recently we were gifted this beautiful affirmation artwork from Althea Affirmation Artwork. This is an amazing company run by a Kiwi mum and they have a beautiful range of personalised affirmation artwork for your child’s wall! You can choose from a range of different prints, and then make it custom with your child’s name and a selection of affirmations that are suited to your child. You can also choose the size of your print and whether it is framed or unframed.

We chose the Superhero Fox print, which Jack absolutely loves! We have it in the size A2 with the natural wooden frame and it is seriously so beautiful. You can choose up to 10 affirmation statements from a huge list, so I chose the ones that I do with Jack regularly as well as a few extras that suit him, his personality, and the beliefs that I want to instil in him.

I absolutely love the story behind the Althea Affirmation Artwork, which was created by a Kiwi mum in support of her daughter Thea, and you can read more about how this brand came to be, here.

I can’t wait to hang this on the wall in Jack’s room in our new house! If you are after artwork for your child that is unique as well as positive and uplifting, then I encourage you to take a look at the range over at Althea Affirmation Artwork. Feel free to use the code SARAH&ALTHEA for 15% off anything!
