Otto Candles: NZ Natural Candles

It’s no secret I love a good candle. It’s one way to not only fill your home with an incredible scent, but also a way to bring in peace and harmony to your home. For me, it’s super important that my candles are natural. Many candles can contain chemical ingredients, which when burnt, release toxins into the air. I tend to stick to soy candles and look for either cotton or wooden wicks.

I was super excited to come across Otto Candles which make all natural candles here in New Zealand (and in Dunedin too which is where I live!). Otto Candles is a small family business which make a range of beautiful candles, all which come housed in a stunning clay container with a cotton wick. Once done, these containers can either be refilled by Otto with a new candle (such a cool idea!!), or can be used as a beautiful container or plant pot for your home! I love brands that really think about the whole picture, which is something Otto have really done. Every little detail is beautiful and well thought out, including the packaging – a beautiful cardboard container with a linen tie or wrap (depending on the size).

There are two sizes to choose from – the Isobel Candle at 400 grams (around 70 hours burn time) and the Florence Candle which is 220 grams (around 40 hours of burn time). You can then choose from three different container colours – Camel (a soft brown shade), Flamingo (a dusty pink), and Dove (a natural white). Each colour is so beautiful and very natural to fit in with a range of home decor. These really are some of the prettiest candles I’ve come across!!

So let’s talk scents. There are four different scents to choose from including…

  • Berry Brandy and Spice
  • Orange Zest and Pink Peppercorn
  • Pear and Jasmine
  • Vanilla and Almond

I have the Orange Zest and Pink Peppercorn scent and it is SO beautiful. My mum absolutely loves it too! All of the other scents sound absolutely amazing too, and there’s really a scent for everyone here. Find out more about their scents here.

Otto candles review

Overall, these are some of the most beautiful candles I’ve ever come across (and that’s saying something!). I love how everything is so customisable, including the size, scents and colours and there really is something for everyone. I also love that they are a family-run, Kiwi made business. If you are looking for something beautiful for your home or as a gift for someone special, you couldn’t go past one of these candles. Otto kindly gave me a discount code for you to use until the end of March, simply use the code SARAHLILLY to get 20% off.
